**Bhubaneswar, May 22, 2025** – Odisha has confirmed its first COVID-19 case in two and a half years, according to a senior government official. The patient, currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, is reported to be in stable condition but has multiple pre-existing health conditions.

“The patient is stable at present, but the only concern is that the infected person has several comorbid conditions,” stated Health and Family Welfare Secretary S. Aswathy.

While sporadic COVID-19 cases are being detected in other parts of India, Ms. Aswathy emphasized that the state government is closely monitoring the situation and awaiting guidance from the Union Government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
