**Deadly Storms Sweep Delhi-NCR, Leaving 6 Dead and Several Injured**

**New Delhi, May 31, 2024** – A violent storm tore through Delhi-NCR on Wednesday evening, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the lives of at least six people. High winds uprooted trees, toppled structures, and sent debris flying, catching many residents off guard.

Tragically, two fatalities were reported in Delhi, two in Ghaziabad, and two in Greater Noida. Among the victims was a disabled individual. Eleven others sustained injuries in various storm-related incidents.

In Greater Noida, a horrifying incident occurred at the Omicron society where a tin shed from the 21st floor fell on an elderly woman and her 2-year-old grandson. The woman died on the spot, and the grandson later succumbed to his injuries. In another incident, a falling electric pole struck and killed a disabled man riding a bike near the Lodhi Road flyover in Nizamuddin. In Gokulpuri, a 22-year-old man died after a large tree fell on his head.

Ghaziabad also witnessed casualties as a 40-year-old man was killed when a tree fell on his bike. In a separate incident, a 38-year-old woman died when a wall collapsed.

The storm also caused widespread damage to property. Several people were injured in Mukherjee Nagar when a section of an old overbridge railing collapsed. Similarly, a balcony collapse in Kashmiri Gate injured a 55-year-old man, and another balcony collapse in Mangolpuri injured four people, including a woman. There have also been reports of broken windows and balconies falling off.

The sudden and severe nature of the storm left little time for people to react, turning everyday activities into life-threatening situations. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage.
