Tue May 20 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Scheffler Secures PGA Championship Victory Despite Rahm’s Brief Challenge

**Charlotte, NC -** World number one Scottie Scheffler weathered a final round surge from Jon Rahm to claim a commanding five-stroke victory at the PGA Championship held at Quail Hollow Club. The win marks Scheffler’s third major title, solidifying his dominance in the world of golf.

Scheffler, who began the day with a three-shot lead, carded an even-par 71, finishing the tournament at 11 under par. While he admitted to not having his “best stuff,” Scheffler rose to the occasion on the back nine, securing crucial birdies to fend off challengers.

Rahm, the Spanish star and two-time major champion, provided a scare on the back nine, briefly joining Scheffler atop the leaderboard. However, a disastrous finish, including a double-bogey on the 17th after hitting his tee shot into the water, saw him plummet down the leaderboard, ultimately finishing in a tie for eighth.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow right now,” Rahm admitted after his round.

Harris English fired a blistering 65, the low round of the day, to surge into a tie for second place alongside Bryson DeChambeau and Davis Riley. DeChambeau, the US Open champion, expressed disappointment despite his strong finish, saying he “missed a few putts coming down the stretch” and felt the course suited his game.

Sweden’s Alex Noren, who started the day in second place, faltered on the back nine, falling out of contention.

With the victory, Scheffler collected a $3.42 million prize from the record $19 million purse. This win further cements his status as the top player in the world, and a force to be reckoned with in the remaining major championships.
