**Karnataka SC Survey Faces Slow Start in Bengaluru, Online Option Launched**
**Bengaluru, May 19, 2025:** A crucial survey of Scheduled Caste (SC) families in Karnataka, aimed at informing internal reservation policies, is experiencing sluggish progress in Bengaluru. The commission overseeing the survey, headed by retired judge H.N. Nagamohan Das, has reported that less than 25% of the estimated 3.54 lakh SC households within the city limits have been reached through door-to-door enumeration.
Concerns over participation have prompted the launch of an online survey platform, open until May 28th. Residents will need their Aadhaar and caste certificate RD number to participate. Furthermore, special booth-level camps will be held between May 26th and 28th to assist households in providing their details.
“We are hopeful that families hesitant to participate in the door-to-door survey will utilize the online option, as awareness has been created,” said a source from the commission. The commission hopes to reach at least 70% of the SC households in Bengaluru by the survey’s conclusion.
As of today, roughly 81,000 households have been surveyed. Across the state of Karnataka, roughly 86.6% of the projected 25.72 lakh SC households have been counted.
The commission has also urged Bengaluru’s civic agency to deploy additional enumerators in slums and areas with a high concentration of economically disadvantaged residents to ensure comprehensive coverage. The use of Aadhaar and RD numbers in the survey are preventing duplication of records, even when migrant families are being surveyed.
