CANNES, FRANCE – Day 7 of the 78th Cannes Film Festival brought a flurry of star-studded premieres, including highly anticipated films from Spike Lee, Michael Angelo Covino, and Julia Ducournau.

Spike Lee’s “Highest to Lowest,” starring Denzel Washington, Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, and A$AP Rocky, debuted to significant buzz. The film, a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low,” features Washington as a music industry titan facing a moral crisis when he becomes the target of a ransom plot. Lee and most of the leading stars all attended the premier and walked the red carpet.

Michael Angelo Covino’s “Splitsville,” starring Kyle Marvin, Adria Arjona, and Dakota Johnson, also premiered. The film follows a man seeking support from his friends after his wife asks for a divorce, only to find himself entangled in their open marriage dynamic. Adria Arjona and Dakota Johnson also attended the premiere.

Julia Ducournau, fresh off her Palme d’Or win for “Titane,” presented her newest work, “Alpha,” set between the 1980s and 1990s, deals with the complexities of adolescence.

The day also included pressers and photocalls for several other films, including “Meteors,” “Once Upon A Time In Gaza,” “The Love That Remains,” “Exit 8,” “The Richest Woman In The World,” “Tell Her I Love Her,” and “The Phoenician Scheme.”

The festival continues, with the jury, led by Juliette Binoche, set to award the Palme d’Or and other prestigious prizes on May 24th. Other buzzy premieres include Ari Aster’s star-studded “Eddington,” “Die My Love,” starring Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence, and Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut “The Chronology of Water.”
