**Visakhapatnam Railway’s Electric Loco Shed Unveils Innovative, Crew-Friendly Locomotive**

**VISAKHAPATNAM, May 18, 2025** – The Electric Loco Shed (ELS) in Visakhapatnam has unveiled significant upgrades to WAP7 locomotive 37419, prioritizing crew comfort and operational efficiency. The enhancements, spearheaded by Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer B. Shanmukha Rao, include a retrofitted crew desk, improved air conditioning ducting, ventilated seats, motor-operated window shutters, a caution order display, rear-view camera, anti-slip flooring, a driver toolbox, and adjustable cab spotlights.

These modifications are part of ELS Visakhapatnam’s entry into the All India Electric Loco Cab Competition, which will be held at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW). The upgraded locomotive was officially flagged off today by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Waltair, Lalit Bohra.

“These modifications reflect our commitment to crew welfare and operational excellence,” said DRM Bohra during the launch. He also announced a ₹5,000 cash award for the ELS team, recognizing their dedication and innovative approach. “I congratulate the team for their innovative approach and wish them success at the All India Electric Loco Cab Competition.”

The upgrades are expected to significantly improve the working conditions and safety for locomotive crews.
