Sun May 18 20:10:00 UTC 2025: ## From Undrafted to Powerhouse: McCusker’s Ascension Captivates Saints Fans

**ST. PAUL, MN** – Carson McCusker, the towering 6-foot-8 outfielder for the St. Paul Saints, is turning heads with his prodigious power, leaving many wondering how every MLB team missed out on this talent. On Tuesday, McCusker launched two home runs, including a 426-foot blast that left his bat at a scorching 114.7 mph – the highest exit velocity recorded by a Saints hitter since Matt Wallner.

The former Oklahoma State Cowboy went undrafted after his college career and spent three seasons in the independent Frontier League, contemplating retirement after struggling to secure a minor league contract. However, McCusker persevered, reinventing himself as a power hitter with a revamped swing.

In 2023, his breakthrough season in independent ball earned him a call from the Minnesota Twins, who signed him without a signing bonus. After a stellar performance throughout the Twins’ minor league system, McCusker found himself promoted to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.

Now, with a .336 batting average, nine home runs, 29 RBI, and a 1.051 OPS in 32 games, McCusker was named the Twins’ minor league player of the month for April. McCusker’s journey is a testament to hard work and self-belief.

While not currently on the Twins’ 40-man roster, his recent performance has put him firmly on their radar. “You’ve got to give the kid a ton of credit,” said Twins President Derek Falvey, acknowledging McCusker’s unconventional path to prominence.

As McCusker continues to dominate in Class AAA, he remains focused on staying grounded and improving his game, drawing inspiration from players like Nelson Cruz. The fans in St. Paul are certainly taking notice of this rising star, who is now knocking on the door of the major leagues.
