**Flores’ Historic Three-Homer Game Propels Giants to 9-1 Victory Over A’s**

**SAN FRANCISCO, CA** – Wilmer Flores etched his name in Giants franchise history Friday night, blasting three home runs and driving in a career-high eight runs in a dominant 9-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Flores joins an elite group of Giants, becoming only the fifth player since 1920 (when RBI became official) to achieve the feat of three or more home runs with eight or more RBIs in a single game. The others were Joc Pederson (4/30/61), Willie Mays (4 HR) (6/3/54), Hank Thompson (6/14/1924), and High Pockets Kelly (date unknown). He is also the first Venezuelan-born MLB player to accomplish this.

“Flores was locked in tonight,” said Giants manager. “He was seeing the ball well and just had a great night overall.”

Flores’ power surge was the highlight of the game, overshadowing what was initially expected to be a pitching duel between Giants starter Logan Webb and A’s left-hander J.P. Sears. Sears, who had previously dominated the Giants in two starts last season, allowing only one run in 14.2 innings, proved no match for the Giants’ offense.

Webb, however, lived up to expectations, pitching a stellar eight innings and allowing just one unearned run. He relied on his sinker to induce 17 groundouts, showcasing a return to his typical contact-oriented pitching style.

“I just wanted to go out there and get groundballs,” said Webb. “I knew our defense would make the plays, and they did.”

The Giants’ defense, featuring the return of Tyler Fitzgerald to the infield, did indeed shine. Notable plays included Willy Adames’ diving stop to save a run and Fitzgerald’s sliding backhand up the middle.

Despite Webb’s strong performance, a late-inning defensive miscue allowed the A’s to score their lone run. A series of deflections led to a controversial hit and RBI being charged to Webb, despite multiple Giants defenders touching the ball on the play.

Nevertheless, the night belonged to Flores. His first home run, a 10-pitch battle against Sears, ignited the Giants’ offense. Two more followed, solidifying a historic performance and propelling the Giants to a decisive victory.

With the win, the Giants improve to .500. They will continue their series against the A’s in a day game today.
