**Delhi Capitals Face Must-Win Game Against Gujarat Titans Amidst Stark’s Departure**
**NEW DELHI –** The Delhi Capitals face a critical encounter against the Gujarat Titans, needing a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Capitals, once considered favorites, have slipped to fifth in the league standings, adding pressure to Sunday’s match.
Adding to their woes, the team has lost their leading wicket-taker, Mitchell Stark, who has returned to Australia to prepare for the upcoming World Test Championship final. Stark’s absence will be keenly felt, especially in the death overs, where he proved to be a decisive force.
“It is very hard to replace someone like (Mitchell) Stark,” said Delhi Capitals spinner Vipraj Nigam, acknowledging the void. “However, we have replaced one or two guys in the team and we hope to execute those plans that were set when the season started. What I mean to say is that we have to work together as a team so that we do not miss a player with whatever players are available to us.”
There is some good news for DC as both opener Faf du Plessis and Stubbs have returned to finish the season.
In contrast, the Gujarat Titans are at full strength with all of their foreign players, including Jos Buttler and Kagiso Rabada, available for selection. Pacer Kagiso Rabada is back in the team fold after serving one month suspension over substance abuse.
“[Buttler] has been a great performer for us. He has kept well. He is a leader of the group,” Parthiv said of the player.
While the Titans benefit from a full squad, they, too, will soon face departures as South African players like Rabada will have to return by May 26th to prepare for the WTC final. Buttler is to return to England to prepare for the West Indies series.
The Capitals will need to overcome Stark’s absence and capitalize on the return of key players if they are to secure a crucial victory and maintain their playoff aspirations.
