South India is bracing for a period of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next week.
Northeast India, particularly Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, is also expected to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days.
While relief is anticipated in some regions, northern India will continue to grapple with heatwave conditions. Rajasthan is predicted to experience dust storms in the border regions of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ganganagar, and Bikaner divisions over the next 3-4 days. Uttar Pradesh saw temperatures soaring to 45 degrees Celsius on Friday, with similar conditions expected to persist until Sunday.
Delhi-NCR will see partly cloudy skies today, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 42 degrees Celsius. Strong winds are expected on May 18th and 19th, with temperatures fluctuating between 37 and 42 degrees Celsius from May 18th to 21st. The IMD forecasts a chance of rainfall in the capital on May 22nd.
Meanwhile, Odisha and West Bengal are likely to experience continued humidity. Uttarakhand’s mountainous regions will see partly cloudy skies and light rainfall, offering respite from the heat, while the plains continue to face sweltering conditions.
