**Lucknow, India -** Uttar Pradesh is experiencing extreme weather conditions, with a severe heatwave scorching many cities while sudden storms brought chaos and fatalities to others. On Friday, the state witnessed a stark contrast in weather patterns, resulting in at least three deaths.

Cities like Banda, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Hamirpur are in the grip of a blistering heatwave. Banda recorded the highest temperature in the nation at a scorching 46.2 degrees Celsius. Kanpur (IAF) followed closely at 45.2 degrees Celsius, with Varanasi at 45, Prayagraj at 45.4, and Hamirpur at 45.0 degrees Celsius. Lucknow experienced some cloud cover, with temperatures reaching 40.1 degrees Celsius.

Tragically, the extreme heat claimed at least one life in Kushinagar, where a woman was killed by lightning during a storm. A cyclist also died in the same district after being crushed by a falling tree branch during the high winds. In Balrampur, a 13-year-old girl was killed by a lightning strike.

Meanwhile, Kushinagar experienced a sudden storm with rain and hail. The storm caused damage and disruption, claiming the lives of one person due to falling tree. Gorakhpur saw a slight decrease in temperature due to light cloud cover. Areas bordering Nepal in Balrampur experienced a dust storm followed by brief rainfall. Strong winds uprooted trees and power poles in Bahraich, causing widespread power outages.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for the next three days across Uttar Pradesh. While the IMD forecasts rain and cloud cover between May 19th and 21st in the Agra region, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme heat and potential storms.
