**Bhuj, India** – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a strong warning on Friday, accusing the Pakistani government of planning to use taxpayer money, including a portion of the $2.1 billion in aid from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to support terrorist activities.
Speaking at a military base in Bhuj, Gujarat, Singh stated that Pakistan intends to allocate ₹14 crore (approximately $1.7 million USD) to Masood Azhar, the head of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group, a UN-designated international terrorist organization responsible for attacks like the 2019 Pulwama and 2016 Uri attacks.
Singh also alleged that Pakistan is rebuilding terrorist infrastructure, including facilities belonging to JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that were targeted by India during Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to a recent terror attack.
The Defence Minister criticized the IMF’s financial assistance to Pakistan, calling it indirect funding of terrorism. He urged the IMF to reconsider its decision, arguing that any financial aid to Pakistan risks being diverted to support terrorist activities.
India had previously voiced its opposition to the IMF’s proposal to extend fresh loans to Pakistan, warning that the funds could be misused for state-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
Singh’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with India accusing Pakistan of continuing to harbor and fund terrorist organizations despite having been removed from the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) “grey list” in 2022. Operation Sindoor, India’s recent military action, targeted terror camps in Pakistan, including key facilities of LeT and JeM.
