**Hyderabad Orphans Gain Access to Critical Healthcare Under Aarogyasri Scheme**

**Hyderabad, May 17, 2025** – In a landmark decision, the Hyderabad district administration has announced the inclusion of orphaned children residing in registered Child Care Institutions (CCIs) under the Rajiv Aarogyasri Health Scheme. This crucial step will provide these vulnerable children access to vital medical care previously unavailable to them.

Until now, children in CCIs were excluded from the benefits of the Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme, leaving them at risk of suffering without adequate treatment for critical illnesses. With limited resources and no familial support, the lack of coverage posed a significant threat to their well-being.

Under the new initiative, eligible orphaned children can now register using their Aadhaar-linked Orphan ID and avail cashless treatment of up to ₹10 lakh for over 1,835 medical procedures. This treatment will be available across more than 90 empanelled government and private hospitals throughout Hyderabad.

According to Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty, the scheme will directly benefit the 641 identified orphans residing in Hyderabad’s CCIs. The total number of children in Hyderabad’s CCIs include 1,103 semi-orphans, and 471 coming from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. These children live in government-run, private, service, and collegiate homes.

“This initiative is a testament to the power of inclusive, interdepartmental governance,” said Durishetty. “It strengthens the safety net for orphaned children and shows what’s possible when compassion meets administrative will.”

The extension of the Aarogyasri Scheme to orphaned children is expected to significantly improve their health outcomes, reduce financial burdens on CCIs, and provide them with the dignity and care they deserve. The initiative marks a significant step forward in ensuring the well-being of Hyderabad’s most vulnerable children.
