**Indian-American Artist Anakha Nair Shines at Cannes Contemporary Art Biennale**
**CANNES, FRANCE – May 17, 2025** – Anakha Nair, a U.S.-based Malayali artist hailing from Ottappalam, India, is making waves at the prestigious Cannes Contemporary Art Biennale. As the sole Indian representative selected for the esteemed exhibition, Nair is showcasing her compelling artwork, “Tyche: The Mirror of the Fortune Bearer,” alongside 49 other global artists.
The Cannes Contemporary Art Biennale, a highly curated event held in conjunction with the Cannes International Film Festival, provides a platform for artists to showcase their talent to an international audience. Nair, a member of the American Federation of Arts and the International Arts Association, expressed her excitement to represent India on this global stage.
“This painting is born from life’s circumstances: moments of trials, transformation and resilience. Drawn to the name Tyche, the Greek goddess of fortune, I found inspiration in her symbolism. Yet, I see her not as a distant deity, but as a reflection of the self, an embodiment of the power within us to shape our destiny and create our own fortune,” said Ms. Nair.
“Tyche: The Mirror of the Fortune Bearer” is a unique blend of oil, resin, and 3-D acrylic, serving as a visual metaphor for resilience, transformation, and inner strength. The artwork has garnered attention for its powerful message and innovative technique.
This marks Nair’s second appearance at the Cannes art show. Last year, she showcased “The Golden Salsa Hour,” a vibrant piece created with ink, acrylic, and golden paint. In addition to her participation in the Cannes Biennale, Nair also represented India at the Louvre Museum in Paris last October, exhibiting her oil-on-canvas piece “Home of Fame for Lisa del Giocondo,” inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
Beyond her artistic achievements, Nair is also an engineering graduate, a product manager at a multinational company in Dallas, a dancer, yoga instructor, and language trainer. She founded the Kalathrishna Arts Centre in Dallas, Texas, in 2013, which now attracts students from across the US, Canada, India, and the UAE.
The International Contemporary Art Cannes Biennale, a museum-quality exhibition curated by the MAMAG Modern Art Museum in collaboration with the PAKS Gallery, will continue until May 18th. Nair’s participation underscores the growing recognition of Indian artists on the international stage.
