**Chris Brown Remanded in Custody Over Alleged Nightclub Assault**
Manchester, UK – R&B singer Chris Brown has been remanded in custody following a court appearance in Manchester related to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub. The 36-year-old American artist was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Salford on Thursday and charged with causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw in an incident said to have occurred at the Tape club in Mayfair, London, in 2023.
During the brief hearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Brown confirmed his name and date of birth. He was dressed in a black tracksuit and t-shirt. District Judge Joanne Hirst deemed the case too serious for magistrates’ court and ordered it to be transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London. The next hearing is scheduled for June 13th.
Brown was in Manchester ahead of his planned UK tour, which included dates at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The arrest throws the tour into jeopardy. He was due to perform in Amsterdam on June 8th, followed by dates in Germany before commencing the UK leg.
Despite the serious allegations, Brown retains a dedicated following. A fan, identified as Candy, 35, cancelled her plans to show support outside the courthouse. “I’m just here to support him,” she said, “I love his music, his voice. Even my children are fans now.”
The case will now proceed to Southwark Crown Court, where Brown will face a judge and jury.
