**Chhattisgarh Braces for Rain and Thunderstorms, Yellow and Orange Alerts Issued**

**Raipur, India -** Residents of Chhattisgarh can expect respite from the recent heatwave as the weather is set to change drastically over the next five days. The Meteorological Department has issued Yellow and Orange alerts for several districts across the state, forecasting thunderstorms, rainfall, and gusty winds from today, May 17th, to May 21st.

The department anticipates a fluctuating temperature range across the region. Saturday specifically, Raipur, Bilaspur, Baloda Bazar, Rajnandgaon, and Durg are expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

While no significant change in maximum temperature is predicted, the change in weather patterns is a welcome relief. Friday saw scattered rainfall across the state after a day of intense heat and humidity.

Orange alerts have been issued for Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Balod, Dhamtari, and Gariaband districts. Yellow alerts are in place for Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Mungeli, Kabirdham, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Mahasamund, Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma.

According to weather experts, the shift in weather is attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation located over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, positioned 1.5 kilometers above sea level.

On Friday, Bilaspur recorded the highest temperature at 41.4 degrees Celsius, while Jagdalpur experienced the lowest at 23.8 degrees Celsius.

The sudden weather change on Friday brought much-needed relief from the sweltering heat, as skies turned overcast and rain swept across many districts. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
