**TNSTC Conductor’s Daughter Achieves Near-Perfect Score in SSLC Exams, Aims to Be a Doctor**
**Thanjavur, India – May 16, 2025** – V. Sofia, the daughter of a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus conductor, has achieved remarkable success in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, scoring an impressive 499 out of 500 marks. A student of Gokilambal Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Kuzhavadayan, near Jayamkondam, Sofia secured perfect scores in English, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science. She missed a perfect score by one mark in Tamil.
Sofia’s father, Venkatesan, is a conductor with TNSTC in the Thanjavur district, and her mother, Sathya, is a homemaker. Her brother, Vignesh, is currently studying engineering at PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore. Sofia’s daily commute involved traveling 14 km between her home in Kurichi, a small village in Thanjavur, and her school in Ariyalur.
News of Sofia’s exceptional performance has been met with celebration. Teachers, staff, and students at her school gave her a rousing welcome. R. Ponmudi, Managing Director of TNSTC (Kumbakonam), and N. Muthukumarasamy, General Manager, have offered their congratulations.
“I knew that I would score good marks. But it is a pleasant surprise to know that I am a topper. I dedicate this achievement to my father, mother, and brother,” Sofia stated. She emphasized the support she received from her school and teachers, who identified and nurtured her abilities from the start of the academic year.
Sofia also acknowledged the sacrifices her father made to support her education. “My father does not find time to sit with me because of his work schedule. He comes at odd hours after work. But invariably motivates me to do well. He spent his earnings on educating me and my brother. By seeing his hard work, I decided to earn a good name for my family. It has become a reality,” she said. Sofia aspires to become a doctor.
