**IT Worker Attacked in Chennai, Suspect Arrested**

**CHENNAI, INDIA – May 15, 2025 (The Hindu)** – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Chennai for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a young woman working in the IT sector. The incident occurred in Perungudi on Monday night, as the 24-year-old victim was walking home from her job at an IT firm in Thoraipakkam.

According to police reports, the woman noticed a man, later identified as A. Lokeshwaran, following her after she left an eatery on 200 Feet Road. As she reached her apartment gate, Lokeshwaran allegedly accosted her, dragging her to a nearby bush and attempting to sexually assault her.

The victim managed to fight off her attacker by biting his hand, and her screams alerted a group of people playing football in a nearby playground. The assailant fled the scene after threatening and verbally abusing her.

The woman immediately filed a complaint with the Thoraipakkam Police, who registered a case under Sections 74 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 78 (Stalking) and 351(2) (Criminal Intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police apprehended Lokeshwaran, a 24-year-old native of Ramanathapuram, and he has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
