**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, May 15, 2025** – The Kerala Cabinet has granted administrative sanction for the Wayanad township project, designed to rehabilitate survivors of the devastating July 30, 2024, landslide. The project, estimated to cost ₹351.48 crore, will provide new homes and infrastructure for those displaced by the disaster.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office confirmed the approval, noting it includes preliminary expenses. Technical approval is contingent upon KIIFCON, a subsidiary of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The foundation stone for the township, located on the Elstone Tea Estate in Kalpetta, was laid by Mr. Vijayan in March.
