**Trinamool Congress MLA Tapas Saha Dies After Brain Hemorrhage**

**Kolkata, May 15, 2025** – Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Tapas Saha, representing the Tehatta constituency in West Bengal’s Nadia district, passed away at a Kolkata hospital early Thursday morning. Party sources confirmed that Saha succumbed to complications following a brain hemorrhage.

Saha, who was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday after suddenly collapsing, had been receiving medical treatment. His condition, however, deteriorated rapidly, leading to his death.

The news of Saha’s demise has cast a shadow of grief over Nadia’s political landscape, impacting party workers, supporters, and local residents. Senior TMC leader and Chapra MLA Rukbanur Rahman stated that district-level leaders were traveling to Kolkata to be with Saha’s family.

“He was admitted on Tuesday after suffering a cerebral stroke. He passed away this morning. The final rites will be decided in consultation with Tapas da’s family and the party,” Rahman told PTI.

Known for his strong grassroots connections, Saha was a veteran member of the Trinamool Congress and a close confidante of party leader Mamata Banerjee. After being denied a ticket in 2011, he briefly contested as an independent and was later reinstated, winning the Palashipara seat in 2016 on a TMC ticket. In 2021, he secured his second consecutive term as an MLA after winning the Tehatta constituency.
