Tue May 13 10:06:45 UTC 2025: ## India Claims Major Success in Ceasefire, Warns Pakistan

**NEW DELHI** – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation Monday, offering his first public comments since last week’s escalation of tensions with Pakistan. He declared that military operations against Pakistan are merely “in abeyance,” contingent on Pakistan’s future behavior.

Modi confirmed the details of “Operation Sindoor,” launched in response to the April 25th Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 people. He claimed the operation resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Prime Minister described the Pahalgam attack as “barbaric” and asserted that Pakistan now understands the severe repercussions of its actions.

While a ceasefire agreement was reached Saturday, halting all military action across land, air, and sea, Modi’s statement strongly suggests that India retains the option of resuming hostilities. Reports indicate Pakistan violated the ceasefire shortly after its implementation. The situation remains tense, with India’s future actions dependent on Pakistan’s conduct.
