Tue May 13 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Theo James Joins Vince Vaughn in Gangster Thriller “The Bookie & the Bruiser”

**CANNES, FRANCE** – Theo James, riding high on the success of “White Lotus” and “The Gentlemen,” is set to star opposite Vince Vaughn in the upcoming gangster thriller “The Bookie & the Bruiser,” it was announced today at the Marche du Film. The film, written and directed by S. Craig Zahler (“Bone Tomahawk”), replaces Adrien Brody in the lead role.

Set in 1959 New York City, “The Bookie & the Bruiser” follows Rivner (James), a pensive Jewish man, and Boscolo (Vaughn), a large Italian-American enforcer, both World War II veterans struggling to readjust to civilian life. They form an unlikely partnership running a lucrative but perilous gambling operation, finding themselves caught in a violent turf war between the Mafia and an Irish gang.

Anton will handle international sales for the film, which is being financed by C2 Motion Picture Group. UTA Independent Film Group and Range Select are handling North American distribution rights. Academy Award-winner Anthony Katagas (“12 Years a Slave”) is producing alongside Dave Caplan.

This latest project adds to James’s already busy schedule, which includes the action-thriller “Fuze,” Kim Jee-woon’s “The Hole,” and the drama “Rosemead,” as well as the second season of Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen.”
