Tue May 13 10:47:50 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Opposition Criticizes DMK Government’s Financial Management and Healthcare Policies

**Chennai, May 13, 2025** – Opposition leaders in Tamil Nadu are sharply criticizing the ruling DMK government’s handling of the state’s finances and healthcare system. O. Panneerselvam, coordinator of the ADMK Workers’ Rights Retrieval Committee, and former Finance Minister, claimed widespread public dissatisfaction despite the government’s increased revenue. He highlighted a massive increase in state debt, projecting a total of ₹15 lakh crore by the end of the government’s term, including loans taken by state utilities. Panneerselvam attributed this to “wrong economic policy and fiscal management,” stating that every child in Tamil Nadu is effectively born with a ₹3 lakh debt. He contrasted this with the DMK’s pre-election promises to improve the state’s financial health.

Meanwhile, AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran criticized the State Health department for its alleged inaction regarding 34 medical colleges at risk of losing recognition due to faculty shortages. He urged immediate action to fill the vacancies. Both opposition figures’ statements paint a picture of growing discontent with the current administration’s performance.
