**COIMBATORE, INDIA (May 13, 2025)** – A Mahila Court in Coimbatore today delivered a guilty verdict against all nine accused in the high-profile Pollachi sexual assault case. The judge, R. Nandhini Devi, will pronounce the sentences at noon after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defense.
The nine men, identified as N. Sabarirajan, K. Thirunavukkarasu, M. Sathish, T. Vasanthakumar, R. Mani, P. Babu, T. Haronimus Paul, K. Arulanantham, and M. Arunkumar, face multiple charges including criminal conspiracy, sexual harassment, rape, gang rape, and repeated rape. The prosecution, represented by CBI Public Prosecutor Surenda Mohan, is seeking the maximum possible punishment, citing the severity of the crimes. Mr. Mohan highlighted charges under Sections 376D (gang rape) and 376(2)(n) (repeated rape on the same woman) of the Indian Penal Code, which carry a minimum sentence of 20 years and potentially life imprisonment.
The accused were brought to court from Salem Central Prison under heavy security.
