**NEW DELHI –** The southwest monsoon has made an early arrival in parts of the Bay of Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD announced Tuesday that the monsoon has advanced into portions of the south Bay of Bengal, the south Andaman Sea, the Nicobar Islands, and some areas of the north Andaman Sea. This marks an earlier-than-usual onset for these regions. Further updates on the monsoon’s progress are expected from the IMD.
