Mon May 12 13:37:08 UTC 2025: ## China Denies Supplying Arms to Pakistan Amidst India-Pakistan Ceasefire

**Beijing, May 12, 2025** – The Chinese military has vehemently denied reports that its Xi’an Y-20 transport aircraft delivered arms to Pakistan following recent military clashes between India and Pakistan. The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) issued a statement on its official website, calling the reports “rumors” and threatening legal action against those spreading misinformation. This denial comes just two days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, with Pakistan reportedly requesting immediate military resupply.

The denial is significant given China’s status as Pakistan’s largest arms supplier, providing 81% of its weapons between 2020 and 2024, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). This includes fighter jets, naval vessels, and missiles. The close military ties between China and Pakistan have led to considerable Chinese media interest in the recent conflict, which initially focused on Pakistan’s claims.

India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7th, carrying out significant strikes on nine terrorist infrastructure sites within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a terrorist attack. Subsequent Indian air strikes on Pakistani airbases severely limited Pakistan’s ability to retaliate. While Chinese media initially highlighted Pakistan’s claims, the scale of India’s retaliatory strikes surprised observers in China. The Indian Embassy in Beijing even cautioned the state-run Global Times to verify information before publishing it.

Despite the denials, China has stated its commitment to a lasting ceasefire between India and Pakistan, pledging to play a constructive role in mediating a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiation. The Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated its support for a comprehensive ceasefire and regional stability.
