Tue May 13 04:53:17 UTC 2025: **Chennai Residents’ Composting Initiative Flourishes, Fostering Green Economy Collaboration**
CHENNAI, INDIA – May 13, 2025 – A collaborative effort between three Chennai-based organizations has highlighted the success of a community composting project and the potential for synergistic partnerships in the green economy. The Residents of Kasturba Nagar Association (ROKA) recently harvested its fifth cycle of compost, producing over 200kg of high-quality material. Instead of solely focusing on sales, ROKA partnered with Wasted 360 Solutions, a dry waste management company, to donate a significant portion of the compost to Kazhani Native Farms in Kottivakkam.
Wasted 360 Solutions purchased the compost from ROKA at a discounted rate and facilitated the donation, demonstrating a model of mutually beneficial cooperation. This action was driven by a shared commitment to sustainability, with Wasted 360 Solutions recognizing the value of ROKA’s expertise in wet waste management and Kazhani Farms’ need for compost. The partnership underlines the growing importance of decentralized waste management initiatives and their contribution to a thriving green economy.
The composting project in Kasturba Nagar is part of a larger waste management initiative funded by the Urban Ocean program and supported by several local organizations and the Greater Chennai Corporation. The success of this project serves as a replicable model for other communities looking to implement sustainable waste management practices.
