**Kozhikode, May 13, 2025** – Kerala police have intercepted a large shipment of suspected hybrid ganja at Karipur International Airport in Calicut. The Kondotty police seized 18 kilograms of the drug, estimated to be worth ₹9 crore (approximately $1.1 million USD), on Monday night. Two men, Rigil (35) and Roshan R. Babu (33), were arrested and are believed to be part of a drug smuggling ring operating from Abu Dhabi.
The suspects were apprehended while acting suspiciously while waiting for a third individual at the airport. Following questioning, they revealed details of the intended recipient, allowing police to intercept the airport taxi carrying the smuggler. However, the main suspect abandoned his luggage, containing the ganja in 14 vacuum-sealed packets, and escaped before police could apprehend him. A search is currently underway for the fleeing smuggler.
