Sun May 11 15:20:00 UTC 2025: ## India Braces for Heatwave as Weather Takes a Turn

**NEW DELHI –** A dramatic shift in weather patterns across India has left many regions grappling with extreme temperatures and humidity. While some areas bask in intense sunshine, others are battling cloudy skies and showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued several warnings.

**Uttar Pradesh** is bracing for a potential heatwave, with temperatures predicted to rise 3-4 degrees Celsius over the next five days. By May 14th, eastern and Terai regions may experience heatwave conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching 44°C in eastern UP. While western UP anticipates thunderstorms, Lucknow is expected to see temperatures around 42°C. The IMD warns of strong winds up to 30 km/h.

**Delhi-NCR** can expect some relief with cloudy skies and light rain, with temperatures peaking at 38°C and dipping to 28°C. However, humidity might increase due to slower wind speeds.

**Uttarakhand**, though experiencing reduced rainfall, will remain cloudy with occasional light showers. Despite recent rain, high humidity continues to be a concern, particularly in the plains.

**Bihar** is experiencing a heatwave, with temperatures in Patna and other districts expected to reach 42-43°C. While some areas may see light showers, the heat will persist. Similar conditions are reported in Jharkhand. West Bengal’s coastal areas face severe heat and heatwave conditions, while the sub-Himalayan region is under an orange alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

**Kerala and Tamil Nadu** will experience hot and humid weather.

**Northeast India** is under a heavy rainfall warning with the potential for lightning and strong winds, attributed to pre-monsoon showers.
