Mon May 12 03:24:26 UTC 2025: ## Indian Diplomat Receives Support Amidst Online Abuse Following India-Pakistan Ceasefire

**New Delhi, May 12, 2025** – Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has received widespread support from prominent figures following online abuse directed at him after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10th. The ceasefire, ending four days of intense cross-border conflict, was announced by Misri following a call between the two countries’ director generals of military operations. Further talks are scheduled for May 12th.

The agreement, however, sparked a wave of online criticism targeting Misri. Veteran diplomat Nirupama Menon Rao condemned the trolling as “utterly shameful,” highlighting the unacceptable nature of the attacks on Misri and his family. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also voiced his support, emphasizing the government’s responsibility for policy decisions and the importance of protecting civil servants from online harassment. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi similarly defended Misri’s integrity and hard work.

The government has stated that the ceasefire was reached without US mediation, despite a social media post from US President Donald Trump suggesting otherwise. The outpouring of support for Misri underscores the growing concern over online harassment of public figures and the need for greater protection of civil servants.
