**CHENNAI, May 12, 2025** – The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) announced today that 141 schools will receive infrastructure upgrades totaling ₹2.34 crore under the State-funded Perasiriyar Anbazhagan School Development Scheme. The upgrades will benefit 69 middle schools and 72 high and higher secondary schools, representing a significant portion of the GCC’s 417 schools. The tender process is complete, and work orders were issued in April. School heads and zonal education officers will monitor implementation. Additionally, 141 temporary physical education teachers will be appointed, receiving monthly salaries of ₹15,000 (middle school) and ₹18,000 (high/higher secondary), to enhance student sports skills and coach training.
