Mon May 12 11:13:53 UTC 2025: ## Modi to Address Nation After India-Pakistan Ceasefire

**New Delhi, May 12, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation tonight at 8 p.m., his first since the commencement of Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The address follows a ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan on Sunday, ending four days of intense cross-border strikes.

Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 6-7, targeted nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, resulting in over 100 terrorist deaths, according to Indian officials. Pakistan retaliated with attacks on Indian military bases, prompting a fierce counter-offensive by the Indian armed forces. Targets included key Pakistani military installations like Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, as well as radar sites.

Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. General Rajiv Ghai stated that 35-40 Pakistani military personnel were killed and that India achieved its objectives. He is scheduled to speak with his Pakistani counterpart later today. The ceasefire agreement brings a temporary end to the escalating conflict, which had raised fears of a wider war. The Prime Minister’s address is expected to elaborate on the situation and the path forward.
