Sun May 11 15:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Buddha Purnima to be Celebrated Worldwide on Monday

**NEW DELHI** – Buddha Purnima, the most sacred festival in Buddhism, will be observed on Monday, marking the 2587th anniversary of the birth of Gautama Buddha. This auspicious day, also known as Vesak, commemorates three significant events in Buddha’s life: his birth, enlightenment, and death (parinirvana), all believed to have occurred on the same day.

Celebrated annually on the full moon of the Vaisakha month, Buddha Purnima is not only a major festival in India but also in several other countries, including Thailand, China, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Japan, and Tibet.

Astrologer S.S. Nagpal highlighted the spiritual significance of the day, emphasizing the teachings of Buddha. These teachings, focusing on overcoming inner conflict, replacing hatred with love, and embracing truth, will be central to the celebrations. The emphasis will be on the importance of living in the present, practicing kindness, and finding peace amidst life’s challenges.
