**New Delhi, May 12, 2025** – India today reaffirmed the full operational readiness of its military bases and systems, following a ceasefire agreement with Pakistan reached on Saturday. Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, Director General of Air Operations for the Indian Air Force (IAF), stated at a press briefing that India’s air defense systems successfully repelled Pakistani attempts to target Indian installations during recent conflicts. He highlighted the effective performance of indigenous weapons systems, such as the Akash missile defense system, and the role of the Integrated Air Command and Control system in thwarting Pakistani offensives.
Air Marshal Bharti characterized the conflict as a response to attacks on Indian infrastructure by terrorist groups, stating that Pakistan’s support for these groups escalated the situation. The Indian Army reported a peaceful night across the International Border, marking the first calm period in several days.
Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7th in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). All subsequent Indian retaliatory actions were conducted under this operation. The ceasefire, effective from 5 p.m. on May 10th, covers land, air, and sea operations.
