Sun May 11 19:11:49 UTC 2025: **Chennai, India (May 12, 2025) –** Thirteen individuals, including the mother of a 13-year-old victim, have been arrested in connection with the prolonged sexual assault of a minor girl in Pallavaram, Chennai. The crime came to light after the girl was discovered to be pregnant during a hospital visit for stomach pains.

According to police, the girl was repeatedly assaulted by a group of boys and adults after one boy befriended her under the guise of delivering water. The mother, aware of the situation, failed to report the abuse.

The Pallavaram All Women Police Station, alerted by hospital authorities, launched an investigation leading to the arrests. The accused, including seven juveniles and five adults, face charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The juveniles were sent to a Chengalpattu Observation Home, while the adults were remanded to Puzhal Prison. The mother was also arrested for her complicity in the crime.
