Sun May 11 17:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Rejects Trump’s Kashmir Mediation Offer, Vows “Uncertainty” for Pakistan
**NEW DELHI** – Following a four-day military standoff that culminated in a US-brokered ceasefire, India has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue. Government sources stated unequivocally on Sunday that Kashmir remains, and will always remain, a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.
The ceasefire, announced Saturday by President Trump and subsequently confirmed by both India and Pakistan, followed days of intense hostilities. India conducted precision strikes on alleged terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan, while Pakistan responded with drone and missile attacks on Indian military and civilian sites.
While President Trump lauded the leaders of both nations for their “strength, wisdom, and fortitude,” and expressed his intention to increase trade and seek a Kashmir resolution, Indian sources dismissed any further discussion with Pakistan on the matter. They emphasized that India’s position on Kashmir is unchanged.
The sources attributed the initial escalation to a Pakistani attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22nd, resulting in 26 deaths. They characterized India’s response as a necessary measure to establish “uncertainty” as the new normal for Pakistan. The targeting of Bahawalpur, the headquarters of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group, was described as a direct response to Pakistan’s support for terrorism. The sources warned that India’s response should make it clear that Pakistan cannot expect cooperation while simultaneously engaging in acts of terror, including a continued suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. “This is a new normal; there will be no business as usual,” they stated.
