Sat May 10 19:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Sting and Trudie Styler: From Shipyards to Tuscan Vineyards, a Life Well Lived

**TUSCANY, ITALY** – Music icon Sting and his wife, actress and film producer Trudie Styler, opened the doors to their stunning 16th-century Tuscan estate, Il Palagio, offering a rare glimpse into their life beyond the spotlight. In an exclusive interview, the couple discussed their decades-long relationship, their thriving vineyard, and their latest ventures.

The 73-year-old singer, fresh from a sold-out Abu Dhabi concert on his 18-month world tour, reflected on his career and the joys of family life. He described the current tour as a stripped-down, more intense experience, performing with just two musicians. This rigorous schedule is carefully balanced with family time, a priority for the couple who admit to disliking being apart for more than a couple of weeks.

Il Palagio, a 350-hectare estate in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini region, acquired in 1997, has become a symbol of their enduring love and a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit. Initially dilapidated, they meticulously restored the main house, chapel (now a gym and meditation space), and replanted the vineyard. The estate now produces ten wines, olive oil, and honey, with a farm shop, pizzeria, and music venue open to the public. For the first time, their wines—some named after Sting’s songs—are available for purchase in the UK through the Il Palagio website.

The couple shared their journey from humble beginnings – Sting, the son of a milkman, grew up near a shipyard in Newcastle, while Styler’s childhood was spent in a council house – to their current success. They emphasized the unexpected journey into winemaking, initially facing challenges and relying on expert advice to transform the estate. The resulting wines have garnered positive reviews, a source of pride for the couple who are known for their high standards.

Beyond the vineyard, Styler continues to thrive in the film industry, recently co-founding Maven Screen Media to support female filmmakers and bringing Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut to Cannes. She also recently released a documentary, “Posso Entrare? An Ode to Naples,” on Disney+.

The interview also touched upon Sting’s musical legacy. He discussed his eight-year writer’s block, overcome by writing the musical “The Last Ship,” inspired by his shipbuilding community. He considers this piece his “real legacy,” a way of paying homage to his roots and acknowledging his journey.

The couple’s enduring relationship, spanning over four decades, is a significant part of their story. They attribute their success to a strong friendship and shared values, celebrating their wedding anniversary with their local community. They also express immense joy in being grandparents to eight grandchildren.

Sting and Styler’s story is one of transformation, hard work, and enduring love, a narrative as captivating as any of Sting’s iconic songs. Their Tuscan paradise, Il Palagio, stands as a testament to a life lived fully and passionately.
