**JAMMU, INDIA** – An Indian soldier was killed on Saturday after being struck by debris from a Pakistani drone intercepted over an airbase in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attack occurred before a ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan, ending a period of heightened tensions following an Indian military strike on May 7th targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

According to officials, the Indian Air Defence successfully intercepted the drone, but a fragment of the destroyed drone struck Sergeant Shri Surendra Kumar Moga, who was on duty at the airbase. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed. The Indian military strike of May 7th was a reprisal for a terror attack in Pahalgam.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma offered condolences and tributes to the deceased soldier, a native of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The incident highlights the continued tensions along the India-Pakistan border, despite the recently announced ceasefire.
