The announcement came on Saturday morning, just before the start of the third round. Rose, who finished second to Rory McIlroy in a playoff at Augusta, had already struggled during the first two rounds at Philadelphia Cricket Club, shooting a 7-over 77 on Friday.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rose explained, “After becoming progressively ill over the past few days, I have made the unfortunate decision to withdraw.
