Sat May 10 18:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Masters Runner-Up Justin Rose Withdraws from Truist Championship Due to Illness

**PHILADELPHIA, PA** – Justin Rose, the recent Masters Tournament runner-up, has withdrawn from the Truist Championship due to illness. The announcement came on Saturday morning, just before the start of the third round. Rose, who finished second to Rory McIlroy in a playoff at Augusta, had already struggled during the first two rounds at Philadelphia Cricket Club, shooting a 7-over 77 on Friday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rose explained, “After becoming progressively ill over the past few days, I have made the unfortunate decision to withdraw. I am not in a state to complete, and it’s best for me to focus on a quick recovery prior to next week.” His withdrawal comes ahead of next week’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rose has a history of strong finishes in major tournaments, having recently placed second in both the Masters and last year’s Open Championship.

Adding to the withdrawals, Michael Kim, who was paired with Rose for Saturday’s round, also withdrew due to a back injury. Kim, who has enjoyed a strong 2025 season, announced his withdrawal on X, citing an aggravated back injury. He stated his intention to receive treatment and return to competition as soon as possible.
