Sun May 11 02:10:00 UTC 2025: ## India Halts Night Train Service in Border Areas Amidst Rising Tensions with Pakistan

**New Delhi, India** – Indian Railways has suspended all nighttime train operations in border regions of Jammu and Punjab due to escalating tensions with Pakistan. The move, affecting over 15 train routes in areas near the International Border and Line of Control (LoC), including Amritsar, Bathinda, Firozpur, and Jammu, is a precautionary measure following increased Pakistani military activity and intelligence reports of heightened drone and artillery threats.

According to officials, trains previously scheduled for nighttime travel will now operate during daylight hours. Some short-distance routes have been temporarily cancelled. The government confirmed that Pakistan has mobilized troops to forward positions, prompting India to increase its operational readiness. To minimize disruption to passengers, Indian Railways will run additional daytime services.

At a press briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, accompanied by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, detailed recent Pakistani aggression, including multiple drone incursions and heavy shelling targeting civilian areas. These attacks, using high-calibre RT guns, have resulted in casualties and infrastructure damage. The Indian armed forces, Singh stated, have responded effectively to all hostile actions and remain on high alert. The suspension of night train services also follows reports of blackouts in border areas to mitigate the risk of civilian infrastructure being targeted at night.
