**Coimbatore, India (May 11, 2025)** – The Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) in Tamil Nadu, India, launched its pre-monsoon tiger and wildlife population estimation on Saturday, May 10th. This eight-day exercise, following the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocol, will cover the Pollachi and Tiruppur divisions of the reserve.

Teams are conducting surveys across multiple forest ranges, focusing on carnivore and mega-herbivore sign surveys, vegetation sampling, assessment of human impact, and prey species pellet counts. Data collection will continue until May 17th, with final results submitted to the NTCA. The Chief Conservator of Forests and Field Director of ATR, D. Venkatesh, is overseeing the operation. This census is crucial for monitoring tiger populations and their habitat within the reserve.
