Ananthapuram, Andhra Pradesh, May 11, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh today attended the funeral of Murali Naik, a soldier who died fighting for the country on the Pakistan border. Minister Lokesh carried Naik’s mortal remains and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. He described Naik as a brave soldier who had dreamt of serving in the army since childhood, even stating his wish to die draped in the national flag.
Lokesh assured the family of full support from both the central and state governments. He announced a compensation package including ₹50 lakh, 5 acres of land, a 300 sq yard plot for a house, and a government job for Naik’s father. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also pledged an additional ₹50 lakh from his personal funds. Furthermore, Lokesh announced that Kallingtla village will be renamed Murali Naik Tanda in honor of the fallen soldier, and a statue will be erected in his memory at the district headquarters.
The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and other ministers. Minister Lokesh remained present until the completion of the last rites, offering support and solace to Naik’s parents. The event concluded with full state honors.
