**Kochi, May 11, 2025** – The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has achieved a significant milestone, receiving an ‘A’ grade in its first National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation cycle. This marks KUFOS as the first fisheries university in India to receive this prestigious five-year accreditation.
The university’s press release highlights the rarity of achieving an ‘A’ grade on the first attempt, especially amongst Kerala’s 16 universities. A NAAC peer review team assessed KUFOS in December 2024, awarding top marks for institutional values, curriculum, and teaching methods.
This ‘A’ grade, combined with existing ICAR and AICTE accreditations, makes KUFOS the first university in India to hold all three. The university’s Faculties of Fisheries Science and Fisheries Engineering previously secured ICAR and AICTE accreditation.
