Sun May 11 10:34:17 UTC 2025: ## Kalyana Karnataka Region to Receive Major Development Boost
**Kalaburagi, Karnataka, May 11, 2025** – The Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) announced a significant investment in education and infrastructure projects for the region. An additional 50 Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) will be built, supplementing the existing 100 already under construction, bringing the total investment in KPS to ₹800 crore (₹4 crore per school). This initiative aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children in rural areas.
The KKRDB also revealed that it spent ₹3,145 crore of its ₹5,000 crore budget in the previous fiscal year and plans to fully utilize the ₹5,000 crore allocation for the 2025-26 fiscal year. To enhance transparency, over 50% of project work will be awarded through tendering processes. A significant portion of the budget, 25%, will continue to be allocated to educational programs, including Akshara Avishkar.
Further investments include:
* **Health Infrastructure:** Funds will support the development of a NIMHANS-like mental health facility, an Institute of Diabetology, cancer hospitals, and a super-specialty hospital across the region.
* **MSME Development:** ₹100 crore will be allocated to support the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
* **Afforestation:** A joint initiative with the Forest Department will undertake a large-scale afforestation drive to increase green cover in the region.
* **Water Management:** ₹100 crore will be invested in constructing tanks, check-dams, and bunds to improve groundwater recharge.
* **Dairy Development:** A mega dairy project in Kalaburagi is planned with an estimated cost of ₹50 crore.
The KKRDB also committed ₹1,500 crore, as per the state budget, to various government department projects, with ₹125 crore earmarked for the Health Department. The board expects additional funding from the government for these projects. The announcements were made by KKRDB Chairman Dr. Ajay Singh at a press conference following a board meeting. Several Karnataka ministers attended the press conference.
