Sun May 11 13:14:32 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Congress Leader Alleges Bias in Scheduled Caste Survey
**Mysuru, May 11, 2025** – G.V. Seetharamu, former chairman of the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation and KPCC spokesperson, has accused enumerators conducting the ongoing Scheduled Caste survey of misclassifying the Bhovi community. He claims enumerators are incorrectly listing Bhovis as a sub-caste under “Adi Karnataka,” “Adi Andhra,” or “Adi Dravida,” rather than recognizing them as a main caste, as they believe is correct. This, he argues, is causing significant injustice and discrimination against the Bhovi/Vaddar community.
Seetharamu alleges that this misclassification is occurring despite the survey form providing an option to list Bhovi as a main caste. He states that thousands of Bhovi community members have been incorrectly registered in this manner over the past five days. He further asserts that enumerators have been instructed to follow this flawed methodology, demanding a reevaluation of the data and action against those responsible.
The survey, led by Justice H.N. Nagmohan Das, aims to enumerate 101 Scheduled Castes ahead of the implementation of internal reservations. Seetharamu questioned the conflicting historical classifications of Adi Karnataka, Adi Andhra, and Adi Dravida, urging clarification on whether these are castes or not.
Adding to his concerns, Seetharamu highlighted discrepancies in the classification of Bhovis as “ST” (Scheduled Tribes) instead of “SC” (Scheduled Castes) on ration cards. He advocated for the acceptance of Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and caste certificates as valid proof of caste, in addition to ration cards. He also called for the inclusion of all household members, including children and daughters-in-law, in the enumeration.
