Sat May 10 20:10:54 UTC 2025: ## India-Pakistan Border Tensions Flare Despite Ceasefire Announcement
**New Delhi, May 11, 2025** – Despite a ceasefire announcement on Saturday evening, India and Pakistan experienced renewed border skirmishes along the Jammu border. According to a Border Security Force (BSF) official, heavy cross-border firing continued until 7:30 p.m., prompting a commensurate response from Indian forces. This followed reports of Pakistani troop movements near the western border, leading to heightened alert levels for Indian armed forces, including the deployment of armored units in Rajasthan.
The BSF reported destroying a Pakistani terrorist launchpad in Sialkot on Saturday and stated that Pakistan initiated unprovoked fire on Friday evening, injuring at least eight BSF personnel. One Sub-Inspector succumbed to injuries sustained during earlier firing. Seven terrorists were also killed attempting infiltration in the Samba-Kathua sector earlier this week.
In response to the ongoing tensions, the Gujarat government instructed district administrations to finalize village evacuation plans near the Pakistan border, while Rajasthan residents near the border were advised to remain indoors. The Ministry of Home Affairs also cautioned media against overuse of air raid sirens.
Furthermore, enhanced security measures were implemented at Indian airports. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) temporarily extended the Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) and Aviation Security Group’s (ASG) roles to bolster cargo operations and in-line hold baggage screening, citing the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam as a contributing factor. The CISF confirmed the implementation of these measures. Despite the ceasefire announcement, the Indian armed forces remain on high alert.
