**ROCK SPRINGS, WYOMING – May 1, 2025** – David M. Thomas, a longtime Rock Springs resident, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1st at the age of 81. Thomas was born in Butte, Montana on December 18, 1943, and moved to Rock Springs in 1978, where he worked for Bridger Coal Company until his retirement in 1998. Prior to his time at Bridger, he held positions at ACM in Butte and the Silver Bow County Surveyor’s Office.

A man of diverse interests, Thomas enjoyed an active life filled with camping, boating, waterskiing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, weightlifting, and spending time with loved ones. In his younger years, he was an avid boxer, boxing coach, race car enthusiast, and football player. He was also known for his love of music and frequently attended his grandson’s band performances.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Kim Thomas; daughters Shawna Reisner, Rachell Williams, Sandy Thomas, and Debora Knezovich; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Steve and Larry Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also fondly known as “Daddy Dave” by his three bonus daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

A celebration of life will be held in Rock Springs on May 23rd, with a second service planned for July 4th in Butte, Montana. Cremation services have already been held.
