**Chandigarh, India – May 11, 2025** – A bilateral understanding between India and Pakistan to halt all military actions on land, air, and sea has brought calm to the India-Pakistan border region, particularly in the Punjab state, after days of heightened tensions. Following four days of cross-border drone attacks and missile strikes, the agreement, reached Saturday evening, resulted in the cessation of hostilities at 5 pm on Saturday.
The agreement followed a period of intense military activity, including several Pakistani drone attacks targeting various areas in Punjab and other states. India responded swiftly with Operation Sindoor, neutralizing terrorist camps and thwarting Pakistani aggression.
On Sunday morning, authorities in Punjab urged residents to resume normal activities, assuring them of adequate security measures. While acknowledging initial anxieties among the population, officials emphasized that the situation is peaceful and under control. Reports of a return to normal life included residents resuming morning walks and businesses reopening.
Although the initial blackout measures implemented in several districts as a precautionary measure on Saturday evening were lifted, authorities cautioned against activities such as bursting firecrackers or flying drones.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the media late Saturday, calling upon Pakistan to uphold the terms of the agreement and take responsibility for any violations. He warned that any future transgressions would be met with a strong response from the Indian armed forces.
Residents expressed relief at the restored peace but also highlighted the importance of maintaining vigilance, emphasizing their trust in the Indian armed forces and their readiness for any further actions required to maintain security. While celebrating the return to normalcy, several voiced hopes that this understanding would mark a lasting period of peace between the two countries.
