Sun May 11 12:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Pakistani Military Bases

**NEW DELHI** – In a significant escalation of tensions, the Indian armed forces launched retaliatory precision strikes against multiple Pakistani military bases early Saturday morning. The attacks, which India described as a response to provocative Pakistani actions, reportedly utilized a range of advanced weaponry, including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile – its first confirmed use in combat.

Indian officials confirmed the use of air-launched precision weapons such as the HAMMER and SCALP missiles, launched from Rafale fighter jets, targeting key Pakistani military infrastructure. The targeted locations included air bases at Rafiqui, Murid, Nur Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian, Skardu, Bholari, Jacobabad, and Sargodha, as well as radar sites in Pasrur and Sialkot. These bases house fighter squadrons, UAVs, command and control centers, and weapon storage areas.

A joint press briefing by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, detailed the response. They stated that Pakistan had attempted over 26 air intrusions across the border, employing drones, long-range weapons, and loitering munitions to target both civilian and military infrastructure. While India acknowledged limited damage to some of its own air force stations, they refuted Pakistani claims of extensive damage.

The briefing also highlighted Pakistan’s targeting of civilian infrastructure, including a healthcare center and school. India showcased photographic evidence to counter Pakistani misinformation campaigns regarding the extent of damage inflicted on Indian military installations.

Earlier in the evening, a temporary ceasefire had been announced, but was quickly broken by renewed Pakistani violations. Foreign Secretary Misri publicly denounced these violations, emphasizing India’s commitment to de-escalation contingent upon reciprocal action from Pakistan. Reports of explosions, intermittent firing, and drone sightings continued across the border in several states, leading to precautionary blackouts in numerous districts. The situation remains tense, with both sides maintaining a heightened state of alert.
