Sat May 10 20:53:10 UTC 2025: ## Sudan Conflict Intensifies: Dozens Killed in Fresh Attacks

**Port Sudan, Sudan (May 11, 2025)** – At least 33 civilians have been killed in renewed attacks in Sudan, attributed to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), escalating the ongoing conflict with the Sudanese army. The attacks follow six days of RSF drone strikes on Port Sudan, crippling vital infrastructure including the power grid and the country’s only functioning civilian airport.

Among the casualties is a family of 14 killed in an air strike on a displacement camp in Darfur, according to a volunteer aid group. The Abu Shouk camp, home to tens of thousands fleeing the conflict, has been repeatedly targeted by the RSF. Further south, an RSF drone strike on a prison in El-Obeid resulted in at least 19 deaths and 45 injuries.

The Sudanese army responded with air strikes targeting RSF positions in Darfur, destroying arms depots. The RSF, meanwhile, claims to have captured the strategic town of En Nahud, a crucial army supply line. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has claimed tens of thousands of lives, displaced over 13 million people, and triggered a major humanitarian crisis. The army controls the north, east, and center of the country, while the RSF dominates much of Darfur and parts of the south. Both sides face accusations of war crimes. The United Arab Emirates is accused by the Sudanese government of supplying drones to the RSF. The situation remains highly volatile with both sides continuing their offensive actions.
